What’s Old Is New

By Kris Provenzano

Hi Folks

This is a new chapter for the Hopewell Old School Baptist Meetinghouse (OSBM). Our goal in creating this blog is to keep the community informed about all the recent happenings there that would be of interest to many. We’ll talk about current work in preserving and restoring the building and cemetery, but will also feature interesting historical tidbits.

Since this is officially our first blog entry (and my first attempt at blogging) let me introduce myself. My name is Kris Provenzano and I’m president of the Board of Trustees. I’ve lived here most of my life. Yup, I’m a Hopewellian and proud of it! Whether you’ve lived here all your life or just moved here, there’s much to be proud of calling this place home!

As many of you are aware, the OSBM is going through an awakening. For many years we have been dormant. In fact, the #1 comment we heard from the community was “It’s never open” or “I walk/drive by there all the time but I’ve never been inside”. Our goal is to change all that!  To start we’ve begun monthly open houses and plan much more! Our next open house will be October 21 from 10 to 2…same day as the Hopewell Harvest Fair! Sooo, if you’re out and about that day we’d love for you to stop by and let us show you around! We’re also working on some exciting programming and events. Stay tuned for an announcement and save the date of Wednesday, December 13 evening! Our vision is to provide a community space that better serves the public…a Meetinghouse for all to enjoy!
